It was in December 2020 that Marco Guerra created the Amanita Muscaria playlist on Spotify. A space that emerged from the taste that the Lisbon-based producer and label manager has for music stripped of beats. And it was due to the need to feed this space with new music, combined with his interest in discovering new artists and producers, that he started actively searching for ways to update and refresh the playlist. This is where his connection to the Groover, Mysphera and, later, Musosoup platforms began, through which he started to have access to new music on a regular basis. This is how, throughout this time, he got to know the work of a good number of the artists included in the Amanita Muscaria compilation.

The idea of viewing Amanita Muscaria as a project and not just as a simple playlist began to take shape when, in July 2022, Marco Guerra premiered Amanita Muscaria radio show on Internet Public Radio in Guadalajara, Mexico. From the beginning of the radio show to the desire to release a compilation was a snap and here it is, the first of many.

The music we can hear on Amanita Muscaria comes from all over the globe: Texas (Slow Draw), Stockholm (Rauste), Brighton (Cederick Knox), Madrid (Concrete Fantasies), Athens/Georgia (The Vet's Fetching), Ontario (Emilio Portal and Tewksbury), Los Angeles (Devin Sarno), Mechelen (Distant Fires Burning), Darmstadt (Bones: Dreaming), Exeter (Nonagon Stare), Coimbra (Kinbotte), Setúbal (Tropic Noir) and Lisbon (Floresta Oblíqua, Clothilde and CITIZEN:KANE). Ambient, drone, exploratory music. Oscillating sonic journeys, varying in intensity, always in deep flights.
